Scholarships and Bursaries

Full-Scholarships
The University offers opportunities for full-scholarship, which include paying for tuition fees for the entire period of study. These are listed below:

Scholarships provided by the University:

  • Scholarships offered to the Ministry of Higher Education. Applicants for this scholarship should match the Ministry requirements. Further information can be obtained from the Ministry. Applicants, however, should also meet the University admission requirements (scores in baccalaureate) .
  • Scholarships for the best achieving students on a national level in the secondary school exams (baccalaureate). This applies for scientific, literary, and vocational streams.
  • One scholarship for the second best achieving students in the secondary school exams (baccalaureate). This applies only for scientific stream (baccalaureate).
  • Three scholarships for students with outstanding, national or regional, sports achievement.
  • Three scholarships provided by the University Council for current students. Two of these scholarships awarded for applicants of Damascus suburban or underdeveloped areas.

 

Scholarships provided by external bodies:

The University could arrange with some other bodies to facilitate scholarships, e.g. societies, charities or SOS. Terms of grants provided are to be negotiated and agreed upon with the University.  

Partial-Scholarships
The University offers opportunities for partial-scholarships, which provide some discounts on tuition fees for the entire period of study.

  • 100% discount on tuition fees is offered for the first year of study only. This scholarship is provided for the best achieving student in the secondary school exams (baccalaureate) at each of our faculties.
  • 100% discount on tuition fees for one term is offered for students achieving the highest score at their faculties. Such discount is offered every term. If a student manages to achieve the highest score in both terms, this discount covers both terms.
  • 50% discount on tuition fees for one term is offered for students achieving the second highest score at their faculties in every term. Such discount is offered for one term only.

Note: Students matching the conditions above (1 or 2) and already have a full-scholarship are awarded 50,000 Syrian Pounds in cash. A student matching condition (3) above and already has a full-scholarship, is awarded 35,000 Syrian Pounds.

  • 15% discount on tuition fees is offered for siblings. In case more than two siblings apply, 20% discount is offered.  
  • The University offers 25% discount on tuition fees for children of faculty members (academics).
  • The University also offers some discounts for children of its administrative and teaching members of staff:
    • 10% for students at medical faculties
    • 15% for students at engineering faculties
    • 20% for students at the Business Administration Faculty 
  • The University also offers scholarships for children of martyrs according to the following:
    • 15% discount on tuition fees for those scoring between 211 and 220 in scientific secondary school exams (baccalaureate)
    • 20% discount on tuition fees for those scoring between 221 and 225 in scientific secondary school exams (baccalaureate)
    • 25% discount on tuition fees for those scoring more than 225 in scientific secondary school exams (baccalaureate)

Note: It is not possible to combine two of the discounts mentioned above in items (4, 5, 6 and 7). In case two of these conditions/bursaries apply to an applicant, s/he is offered the greater of the two.
