Syrian Private University, set forth to materialize a core objective of serving the community. In order to empower this commitment, the University has worked diligently on constructing and equipping a new building explicitly designed for dental clinics. The Clinics are to commence functioning by the beginning of the 2012-2013 academic year.
The Dental Clinics building consists of two floors, each containing three fully functioning dental clinics and a total of 106 dental units. The newly constructed dental units serve alongside the one hundred units within the Faculty of Dentistry. With a capacity exceeding two hundred dental units, SPU has developed the largest Faculty of Dentistry in Syria. SPU trains the largest national number of dental students on providing dental treatment and service, and this is all conducted under the supervision of the most prominent dentists in Syria.
The newly constructed building is designed and equipped with the latest medical technologies in the field of dentistry, e.g. fibre optic handpieces, spittooning, and autoclaves. There are a number of patient waiting rooms designed and furnished to provide the most comfort possible. The building is also supported by radiology and sterilization units to facilitate better dental service.
The Clinics provide invaluable opportunities for students to conduct their practicum. All students’ work is closely supervised by academics of the highest calibre. The large number of dental units held at the Clinics has enabled higher student/unit ratio 2/1. Having only two students per dental unit has enabled students the opportunity to get more on-hands experiences, simulating those of practicing dentists at private clinics.
