[Drilling Methods] Syllabus

This course includes lectures and Video Films and calculations and practical examples about the most used drilling methods, specifically Rotary Drilling, Turbine Drilling, Electrical Drilling, and Core Drilling, in addition to Drill Stem Testing. The Course studies equipments, using in each method, its drilling regime, and problems, happening in each method and solving them, with a focus on studying the Drill String: Stresses which it exposed to and its design, because it forms the common element between all Drilling Methods. Student will be able to choose Drilling Method and to design the drill string and calculate parameters of Turbine Drilling and how to implement other Drilling Methods in addition to Drill Stem Testing and analyzing the results of these tets.
This course is an adequate explanatory tool and an action guide for Drilling Methods and Drill Stem Testing workers. It aims to:
1. Studying and Identify the surface equipments of Rotary Drilling, and studying the Drill string: stresses and how to design it.
2. Identify of Turbine Drilling: conditions of its using, calculation of its parameters, and study the effectiveness of this method.
3. Identify of Electrical Drilling: conditions of its using and problems.
4. Identify of Core Drilling: conditions of its using, Equipments, Parameters and problems.
5. Identify of Drill Stem Testing: aims, methods, Equipments and analyze the results of these tets.
